Pitched 12 seasons in the majors, all with the Dodgers . . . threw two no-hitters, one on 6/19/52 against the Cubs and the other on 5/12/56 against the Giants . . . best seasons were 14 wins with a 2.70 ERA in 1952 and 20 wins in 1953 . . . ranks 10th on the all time World Series list for most appearances by a pitcher (11) . . . won in double figures six straight seasons . . . pitched a remarkable game in the 1952 World Series as he went 11 innings to defeat the Yankees 6-5 in the fifth game . . . allowed five runs in the fifth inning but then retired the final 19 hitters to face him as Duke Snider doubled in the winning run in the 11th inning . . . broke a 20-year old World Series record when he fanned 14 Yankees in the third game of the 1953 World Series he won 3-2 . . . his mark stood until Sandy Koufax eclipsed it in the first game of the 1963 World Series . . . in that game, Erskine fanned four of the final six hitters . . . is retired president of the Star Financial Bank in Anderson, IN . . .
